About DoctorLicensePro
DoctorLicensePro is a free, public tool that helps consumers verify the credentials of physicians in the United States. We believe everyone deserves transparent access to their doctor's professional background.
Our Mission
Healthcare is deeply personal, and trust is essential. DoctorLicensePro empowers patients to make informed decisions by providing easy access to publicly available physician data — including license status, disciplinary actions, and board certification — all in one place.
How It Works
We aggregate data from the CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and state medical board public records. Each physician receives a Trust Score (0-100) based on five factors:
- License Status (30 pts) — Is the license active, suspended, or revoked?
- Disciplinary Record (25 pts) — Any state board actions on file?
- Board Certification (20 pts) — Verified through ABMS member boards
- Years in Practice (15 pts) — Length of professional experience
- Data Freshness (10 pts) — How recently was the data verified?
Data Sources
All data displayed on DoctorLicensePro comes from publicly available government databases. We do not use the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), which is restricted from public access by federal law.
- CMS NPPES — Updated weekly. Covers all NPI-registered healthcare providers.
- State Medical Boards — License status and disciplinary actions from individual state boards.
